Smarika Thapa

Position: Partner

Smarika Thapa is a member of the Colorado Bar. She received her Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law, in St. Paul, MN, where she interned with her law school’s Immigration Clinic assisting clients with Asylum and Removal cases. Ms. Thapa was born in Nepal and was educated in Nepal, India, and the United States. She completed her Undergraduate studies from the University of Colorado, at Boulder, majoring in Psychology, and minoring in Political Science.

Having immigrated to the United States while a high school student, Ms. Thapa witnessed first-hand, the challenges that immigrants face in this country while navigating through our complex immigration system. With her language skills of English, Nepali, Hindi, and Spanish, immigration law was a natural fit.

Prior to joining MyRights, Ms. Thapa worked at a boutique immigration law firm in Lexington, KY primarily doing family based visas and petitions, waivers of inadmissibility, and appellate briefs. At MyRights, she currently works on a variety of immigration matters for clients including family based petitions, waivers of inadmissibility, Consular Processing, Removal Defense, and more.

In her spare time, Ms. Thapa enjoys singing, reading, and spending time with her family.
