Smarika is a member of the Colorado Bar. She received her Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law, in St. Paul, MN, where she interned with her law school’s Immigration Clinic assisting clients with Asylum and Removal cases. After having been educated in her homeland of Nepal, and India, Smarika completed her Undergraduate studies from the University of Colorado, at Boulder, majoring in Psychology, and minoring in Political Science.
Having immigrated to the United States while a high school student, Smarika witnessed first-hand, the challenges that immigrants face in this country in navigating through our complex immigration system. With her language skills of English, Nepali, Hindi, and Spanish, immigration law was a natural fit.
Prior to joining MyRights, Smarika worked at a boutique immigration law firm in Lexington, KY primarily doing family based visas and petitions, waivers of inadmissibility, and appellate briefs. She has also worked as a contract attorney representing clients in immigration court and has been a volunteer attorney through the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN). At MyRights, she currently works on a variety of immigration matters for clients including family based petitions, waivers of inadmissibility, DACA, and more.
